ARLINGTON, Va. — Husband-and-wife driving team Ron and Lea Eppich of Calhoun, Ga., came to Arlington National Cemetery with a truckload of wreaths on Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 16. 

ARLINGTON, Va. — Wreaths Across America showcased the critical work truck drivers do in support of its mission to honor fallen soldiers during its appreciation dinner Dec. 15.

ARLINGTON, Va. — It’s no coincidence that there are military veterans among the scores of truck drivers who hauled Christmas wreaths to honor their fallen comrades Dec. 17 for National Wreaths Across America Day, and all felt humbled and honored to be there.

An estimated 2.5 million wreaths will be delivered from Maine to more than 3,700 cemeteries during Wreaths Across America's annual event Dec. 17. 

More than 2.4 million veterans across the country on Dec. 18 were honored for their service with a handmade wreath on their headstone.

The Bennett Family of Cos. was recognized by Wreaths Across America as the sixth recipient of its annual James Prout Spirit of Giving Award.

Six months removed from scaling back due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual Wreaths Across America nationwide remembrance for the nation’s fallen military is working toward a return to full-scale operations this December.

The final resting places of 1.7 million American veterans were adorned with holiday wreaths this year as organizers of the annual Wreaths Across America Day worked to ensure the nation’s fallen received this honor despite challenges presented by the pandemic.

Wreaths Across America Day will return to Arlington National Cemetery — and so will trucking’s involvement — after a whirlwind stretch in which cemetery officials had initially decided to cancel the event out of coronavirus concerns.

Planners for National Wreaths Across America Day say the event that honors fallen servicemen and women will take place, albeit with modifications to keep the thousands of volunteers and staff safe.
