Profits for global truck manufacturer Traton rose in the first quarter on momentum from favorable market conditions and higher prices, including for the International Trucks brand.

Navistar parent company Traton is standing firm in its belief that battery-electric trucks are the best alternative for trucking fleets looking to decarbonize their operations.

Profits at Traton Group rose in the fourth quarter of 2023 on the back of an improved truck market globally and higher prices, the owner of U.S. Class 8 brand International said.

Sales of International-branded trucks totaled 75,500 in 2023, up 9% compared with 2022, the original equipment manufacturer’s parent company said Jan. 22.
