Private sector payrolls decreased by 32,000 after a revised 3,000 decline a month earlier, according to ADP Research data released Oct. 1.

The company said the decision would create greater synergies, enhance customer service, improve operational efficiency and accelerate innovation across the specialty vehicle segment.

Called Amazon Grocery, the new offering includes dairy, fresh produce and meat, the company said Oct. 1. The new brand will be available online and at Amazon Fresh stores.

The measures underscore the pressures on the German auto industry, which is reeling from sluggish demand in Europe, the cost of tariffs and rising competition from Chinese manufacturers.

“It’s last call at the bar, everyone is stepping up and ordering,” said Tyson Jominy of JD Power, which expects sales of about 16.1 million new vehicles this year.

The European Commission will propose early next week a long-term mechanism that will also reduce the bloc’s existing quotas for foreign steel by almost half.

The department’s plan, released Sept. 30, shows that highway and trucking agencies are among the least affected in a lapse of annual appropriations.

Under the latest plan, air traffic controller hiring and field training would also continue — a key difference from the March plan, which would have paused those activities. 

As the trucking industry moves toward the next generation of diesel engines, the introduction of new oils designed to further enhance fuel efficiency also is on the horizon.

The project, dubbed Ohio One, “remains an important part of our long-term plans to expand leading-edge manufacturing on U.S. soil,” Intel said in a statement.
