President Donald Trump’s top trade negotiator is attempting to inject order into new tariffs expected next month, after previous announcements roiled markets and fueled uncertainty.

Mexico is delaying its response to U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports as President Claudia Sheinbaum avoids retaliation while both countries negotiate to avert levies.

President Donald Trump on March 6 postponed 25% tariffs on many imports from Mexico and some imports from Canada until April 2 amid fears of the economic fallout from a broader trade war.
