The U.S. average retail price of diesel dropped 3.7 cents to $2.976 a gallon, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Jan. 14, even as crude oil prices climbed above $50 per barrel.

Diesel prices started off 2018 low, but as the year comes to a close, the average price of diesel is more than 20 cents higher than in 2017.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel dropped 5.4 cents to $3.207 a gallon, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Dec. 3, as crude oil prices fluctuated but remained below $55 per barrel.

Sunoco has completed its $24 million acquisition of Brenco Marketing Corp.’s fuel-distribution business.
