The U.S. average retail price of diesel dropped 5.4 cents to $3.207 a gallon, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Dec. 3, as crude oil prices fluctuated but remained below $55 per barrel.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel inched down 0.6 cent to $3.217 a gallon while crude oil prices fell amid ongoing international currency and political issues that could sap demand.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel fuel rose 2.4 cents to $3.157 a gallon, the sixth straight week that the trucking industry’s main fuel has increased in price, according to the weekly report from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel fell 1.6 cents to $2.976 as the price of a barrel of crude slipped to $61 as analysts expected U.S. production to continue at a high level. Trucking’s main fuel has seen five consecutive declines totaling 11 cents.

The U.S. retail diesel average dropped 1.5 cents to $2.992 a gallon, its fourth consecutive decline, the Department of Energy reported March 5.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel fell 2 cents to $3.007 as crude oil prices rose amid optimism that the economy and energy use would climb along with recent gains in stock prices. Later in the week, oil slipped on rising U.S. inventory levels.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel slipped 1.2 cents to $2.910 a gallon as oil prices closed in on $58 a barrel — but then forecasts for U.S. oil production pointed to record volumes next year, causing oil prices to ease some.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel dipped 0.4 cent to $2.922 a gallon as oil prices also slipped as domestic and foreign producers squared off over how to manage production.

The U.S. average retail price of diesel jumped 1.4 cents to $2.926 a gallon as oil rose above $58 a barrel.
