U.S. preliminary net trailer orders for October rose above 21,000 units, marking a rebound, analysts said.

ACT Research Co. put the number at 21,050 and said it will have final volumes available later this month but expected those to be within 3% of the estimate.

鈥淣et trailer orders rebounded strongly in October, following a disappointing September. This preliminary report points to a sequential gain of over 60% for the month,鈥 said Frank Maly, ACT鈥檚 director of commercial vehicle transportation analysis and research.

Orders in September were 12,993, ACT said.

Dry van orders powered October鈥檚 rise, he said.

However, October鈥檚 volume was approximately 37% behind the same month last year and was off by a similar percentage in the year-to-date period, ACT said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 evident that fleets remain cautious regarding their purchase commitments, continuing to balance their capex plans to current market conditions,鈥 Maly said.
