Ryder System on Dec. 12 the retirement of CEO Robert Sanchez and named company executive John Diez his successor.

Sanchez is expected to retire in late March 2026. Diez currently is president and chief operating officer for the Miami-based logistics and transportation company. The board of directors-approved succession plan has him stepping into his new leadership role the day Sanchez retires. Diez also was elected to the board.

Sanchez has been CEO and chairman since 2013. He expressed confidence in his replacement while looking back at the two decades they have worked together, noting that Diez’s deep understanding of the business, sound judgment and strategic mindset position him to lead the company.

Diez has served as president and chief operating officer since the start of 2025. He also has been executive vice president and chief financial officer, positions in which he contributed to the strategic direction and operational management of the company. His tenure includes serving as president of the fleet management business.
