Marathon Asset Management and others that provided First Brands Group with $1.1 billion are seeing the super-senior debt crater at a speed that bankruptcy experts say is unprecedented.

A group of state trucking associations has released an action plan identifying seven areas bad actors exploit in the industry with solutions to eliminate fraud and illegal operators.

Major First Brands investors have offloaded stakes in the bankrupt auto supplier’s debt, causing the value of its most senior loan to collapse and prompting it to pull forward a lender call.

The world’s biggest farm machinery maker said in a statement to Bloomberg that it “has kept focus on supporting our customers and helping them build for the long haul.” 

“This is kind of a Band-Aid — we need more markets more than we need aid,” said Missouri farmer Marty Richardson, adding that he feels like 2026 will be just as bad as this year.

First Brands is asking the judge overseeing its bankruptcy to set up a framework that will give comfort to clients that they can send money to the company without risk of double payment.
