First responders are searching for more victims Nov. 5 after a UPS cargo plane crashed and exploded in a fireball at the company’s global aviation hub in Kentucky, killing at least nine people.

A UPS freighter jet crashed shortly after takeoff Nov. 4 from Louisville, Ky., in a fiery accident that authorities said killed at least seven people and injured nearly a dozen others.

The Greenwich, Conn.-based LTL carrier reported net income of $82 million for the three months ending Sept. 30. That compared with $95 million the previous year. 

Werner Enterprises saw its third-quarter bottom line swing from a year-ago profit to a loss as one-time expenses took a toll on its three-month results.

“We are working toward a late 2025 or early 2026 sale of Landstar Metro and have thus far experienced a good deal of interest in that company,” CEO Frank Lonegro said.

Schneider experienced revenue growth in the third quarter from the previous year even as a slowing market and claims costs dragged down earnings, the company reported Oct. 30.

The company posted a $271 million profit in Q3 2025, down 12.2% compared with $308.6 million last year. Revenue was $1.41 billion, a 4.3% decrease compared with $1.47 billion.

The results suggest CEO Carol Tomé’s revival efforts are gaining traction after UPS struggled with slow demand, high expenses and uncertainty fueled by tariffs.

Customers are telling J.B. Hunt it has been a shipper’s market for longer than any of them expected, but they expect change in the market soon, said Director of Intermodal Pricing Amy Horn.

Executives told analysts the most recent quarter’s performance boded well for the coming quarters in spite of continued economic uncertainty. Overall, revenue was little changed.
