A handful of states and cities have enacted rules requiring ride-hailing companies to rapidly electrify their fleets. Uber is pushing back, urging California regulators to delay enforcement.

Customers who request an UberX, Uber Comfort or Comfort Electric may be matched with one of Avride’s Hyundai Ioniq 5 robotaxis at no additional cost starting Dec. 3.

Operating income for the three months ended Sept. 30 came in at $1.11 billion, the company said in a statement Nov. 4. Analysts were expecting $1.62 billion.

The robotaxi firm’s listing has attracted Uber Technologies, which was in talks to invest about $100 million in the share sale, Bloomberg reported. Pony AI went public in the U.S. last year.

Uber is making hundreds of thousands of restaurants available to Kroger customers on the grocer’s app and website, and is offering extra perks to Kroger’s paid members

The move is a step toward Uber challenging Alphabet’s Waymo, whose driverless taxis have become ubiquitous in San Francisco. Road testing is underway.

As part of the collaboration, Stellantis will be among the first automakers to deliver at least 5,000 Nvidia-powered robotaxis for Uber’s operations in the U.S. and internationally.

Uber invested in the U.S. IPOs of both Pony AI and WeRide, and the new investments reported by Bloomberg would deepen ties with the Chinese robotaxi firms.

Uber’s investment expands on a multiyear partnership with Austin-based Avride to deploy autonomous vehicles and food delivery robots.

The company expects non-restaurant deliveries to hit an annual run rate of $12.5 billion in gross bookings by the end of 2025,  25% more than the $10 billion run rate it shared in May.
