A sudden burst of acquisition activity surfaced in a three-day span last week involving four of the nation’s largest trucking fleets, including two offers for the less-than-truckload assets of Vitran Corp. and a $95 million bid by Knight Transportation Inc. for USA Truck Inc.

Platinum Equity said it has acquired home-delivery service °®¶¹´«Ã½Direct Inc., with plans to merge it with another company it purchased earlier this year.

Rush Enterprises Inc. said it has agreed to buy several truck dealerships in Illinois and Indiana.

Platinum Equity said it has acquired Bridge Terminal Transport Inc. from Maersk Inc. Terms were not disclosed.

Trimble said Sept. 19 it will acquire forestry logistics software company Asset Forestry Limited. Terms were not disclosed.

Paradigm Oil and Gas Inc. said it has acquired Ada, Okla.-based Cam Trucking and Well Services. Terms were not disclosed.

Duff Brothers Capital said it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Frozen Food Express for $2.10 per share, in a deal valued at about $38.2 million.

PGT Trucking Inc. said it has acquired New Jersey flatbed carrier Liedtka Trucking. Terms were not disclosed.

Truck-and-car fleet services company ARI said it has acquired the fleet management segment of Stuttgart, Germany-based Fleetlevel+ Services. Terms were not disclosed.
