Member states could be ready to accept a 15% tariff and EU officials are pushing to have that cover sectors including cars.

The EU  is willing to accept a trade arrangement with the U.S. that includes a 10% universal tariff on many of the bloc’s exports, but wants the U.S. to commit to lower rates on key sectors.

The European Union approved tariffs to hit around $23.2 billion of U.S. goods in retaliation for the 25% duties President Donald Trump imposed last month on steel and aluminum exports.
