Saia Inc. said Thursday its third-quarter earnings fell from a year ago, citing impacts of a softer economy.
Net income fell to $2.5 million, or 16 cents a share, from $3.3 million, or 24 cents a year ago.
Revenue rose 6% to $235 million, the less-than-truckload carrier said in a statement.
LTL tonnage rose 1.2% in the quarter to 924,000, while truckload tonnage rose 10.6%, to 179,000.
Saia is ranked No. 24 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
