Rising Workers’ Comp Premiums Force Higher Deductibles for Coverage

Although the latest run-up in rates is not as steep as in the early 1990s when coverage became virtually unattainable, it is forcing many carriers to retain more risk for on-the-job injuries.
Trucking companies are facing premium increases of 25% to 50% for workers’ compensation insurance, according to Greg Feary, an attorney with the firm of Scopolitis, Garvin, Light & Hanson in Indianapolis.
