Navistar Protests Military Truck-Ordering Plan
Navistar International Corp. has protested to U.S. government officials about the method the Pentagon is using to select providers of mine-resistant all-terrain vehicles to be used by U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Navistar Defense LLC is in discussions with the government over a technicality in the evaluation of the military’s mine resistant ambush protected, or MRAP, all-terrain vehicle program, the company said in a statement.
“Navistar is . . . in communication with all necessary parties to get the program back on track,” said Archie Massicotte, Navistar Defense’s president. “Our record in providing these types of vehicles is outstanding and we are confident that our design is worthy of consideration.”
The issue will notaffect Navistar’s previously stated 2009 guidance, the company said.
