FMCSA, NHTSA Delay Safety Fitness, Speed Limiter Proposed Rules

The rule would replace the current SafeStat system using Compliance, Safety, Accountability data to rate carriers as satisfactory, conditional or unsatisfactory.
In addition, the new report said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now plans to publish its proposed heavy-duty truck speed limiters rule July 27, a one-month delay.
FMCSA stillÌýÌýis projecting it will publish its electronic logging devices finalÌýrule for carriers Sept. 30. The rule would not be effective until two years after it is finalized.
FMCSAÌýalso said itÌýexpects to issue its final drug and alcohol clearinghouse rule Dec.14, and a final rule prohibiting the coercion of drivers by carriers and brokers Sept. 10.
