EPA Working With Industry on 'Clean Corridors' for ULSD

| Special to Transport Topicshe Environmental Protection Agency said it was working with industry representatives to determine the locations of proposed “clean corridors” where fleets could buy ultra-low-sulfur fuel in 2005 to test 2007 diesel engines in actual operating conditions.
Industry representatives’ reactions were cautious.“We would probably use the clean corridors, but we would want to test [the 2007 engines] as ‘real-world’ as possible. If that fuel is only available in a few clean corridors, that isn’t real world,” said Mike Morgan, vice president of fleet services and labor relations at less-than-truckload carrier Overnite Transportation. “As long as [the fuel] was available in bulk, we would try to do it ourselves.”
