Diesel Slips 5.9¢ to $4.537 a Gallon in Seventh Straight Decline

The national average price of diesel dropped 5.9 cents to $4.537 in its seventh straight decline, according to Energy Information Administration data on Dec. 26.
Highlights
- The price of diesel has fallen 79.6 cents on average since it cost $5.333 a gallon on Nov. 7.
- Diesel now costs 92.2 cents a gallon moreÌýon average than it did at this time a year ago.
- The average price dropped in all 10 regions in EIA’s weekly survey.Ìý The biggest drop wasÌý11.1 cents a gallon in both the West Coast minus California and New England. The slightest decline was 3 cents in the Central Atlantic.
- The average price for a gallon of gasoline dipped 2.9 cents to $3.091, making it 18.4 cents lower than it was a year ago.
