Board members of the Transportation Loss Prevention & Security Council of American Trucking Associations are scheduled to vote April 11 on a restructuring plan to merge it with another affiliated group.
The plan calls for blending the TLPSC with ATA’s Safety Management Council, whose board is expected to take a similar vote in June.
If both organizations approve the change, integration would take place in July.
The merged organization would be named the ATA Safety & Security Management Council, said Jai Kundu, vice president of councils at the trucking organization. It would be overseen by a management committee of seven national officers, including the current chairmen of SMC and TLPSC. Two new positions — chairman of the National Truck Driving Championships and the Human Resources Forum — would be created.
