In an effort to keep you informed of state legislative changes in Texas that could potentially affect your business, I am sending you this letter as a courtesy.

We enjoyed your great feature on members of the trucking industry who utilize graphics to promote their services, but thought we would be remiss if we did not take the opportunity to share the efforts Werner Enterprises has undertaken to recruit members of the armed forces to our team.

Over the past few decades, we’ve done ourselves a significant injustice in the trucking industry by not paying attention to the changes happening around us as they relate to recruiting drivers and owner-operators.

Raising liability minimums at this time is shortsighted, has nothing whatsoever to do with safety or fairness and should not be considered seriously. What we need today is tort reform, not escalation of corporate liability.

The intent of the language in MAP-21 was to clarify that motor carriers need separate brokerage authority and the subsequent bonding requirement to legally broker freight.
