Tightening federal standards for truck emissions, including particulates, nitrogen oxides and, most recently, carbon dioxide, have led to higher-pressure fuel-injection systems that require finer fuel filtration than ever before to prevent engine problems.

The average price of used Class 8 trucks sold in November dipped in a seasonally subdued market where the average mileage continued to fall, ACT Research Co. said.

North American orders for Class 8 trucks slumped in December from the same period a year ago, when the original equipment manufacturers logged their fourth-best volume ever.

Independent engine maker Cummins Inc. said it has received Environmental Protection Agency certification on all of its on-highway diesel and natural-gas engines.

Cummins Inc., the only independent engine maker in the U.S. market, said earlier this month the Environmental Protection Agency has certified its on-highway diesel and natural-gas engines, ranging from 5 to 15 liters, as compliant with second step of the federal greenhouse gas and fuel-efficiency Phase I standards set to take effect in January 2017.

Component suppliers Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake, a joint venture with Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, said they will offer 17 in-person brake training school sessions from spring through fall 2016 at various locations around the country.
