Ford Motor Co.’s second-quarter profit declined $201 million from a year ago, the company said Tuesday.

Truck and engine manufacturer Paccar Inc. said Tuesday its second-quarter profit rose on higher truck sales, though it trimmed its overall sales outlook for the 2011 North American trucking market.

U.S. retail sales of Classes 4-7 trucks totaled 12,819 units in June, 23.8% more than the 10,356 units sold in June 2010, WardsAuto.com reported.

Engine maker Cummins Inc. said Tuesday its second-quarter profit doubled to a record on higher sales, and it boosted its earnings outlook for the full year.

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a second-quarter profit of $111 million, or 67 cents a share, up 14.2% from $97.2 million, or 59 cents, a year earlier.

Covenant Transportation Group turned around a first-quarter loss and posted a second quarter profit, though smaller than a year ago, the truckload carrier said.
