Hawaii has become the 40th state to ban texting while driving after Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D) signed the new law on Monday.

The texting ban for Ohio drivers took effect Aug. 31, the Associated Press reported.

ZoomSafer, a Reston, Va., company that makes software to prevent mobile-phone use by drivers behind the wheel, said it raised $1.1 million from White Birch Capital and SugarOak Holdings.
