With only 12 days left in this year’s legislative session, the South Carolina Senate started debate April 18 on a proposal to repair the state’s crumbling roads.

The South Carolina Ports Authority reported growth of container volume and breakbulk tonnage at its Charleston facilities and significant increases in rail volume at Inland Port Greer during the 2016 fiscal year that ended June 30.

Container volume at South Carolina ports increased 17% in October from the same month last year, according to the state’s port authority.
