Trucking supplier Stoneridge and Orlaco BV, a maker of vehicle camera systems, announced an alliance to develop, make and sell electronic mirror replacement systems for commercial and off-road vehicles.

The new product, known as MirrorEye, is designed to mesh Orlaco’s technology with integrated display, electronics and technology to provide driver information that is provided by Stoneridge, which is based in Warren, Ohio.

Stoneridge will be the Tier 1 supplier, while Orlaco will provide vehicle exterior products to comply with ISO standards for camera monitoring.

“This strategic alliance agreement brings together a global leader in the instrumentation and electronics markets and a premier cameras supplier,” said Jon DeGaynor, chief executive officer of Stoneridge Inc. “MirrorEye increases the driver’s field of view, enhances night visibility and improves safe operating conditions for drivers and fleet owners.”

Netherlands-based Orlaco also provides products for the maritime and warehousing industries.
