Senate Votes to Offer Engine Retrofit Grants

       | Staff Reporterhe Senate last week voted to offer $1 billion in federal grants and loans for retrofits of older diesel engines as part of its work on the comprehensive energy bill.
      	  			            
The Senate measure, approved by a 92-1 vote June 21, would spend much more money than a similar proposal the House of Representatives passed earlier.
The House version of energy legislation approved in April included an EPA grant program for retrofitting older diesel engines, but the House proposal only called for spending $100 million.
