Saia Inc. said Wednesday its fourth-quarter profit more than doubled on improved operational efficiencies.
Net income increased to $5.4 million, or 33 cents per share, from $2.5 million, or 15 cents, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 4.5% to $264 million, the less-than-truckload carrier reported.
For all of 2012, net income rose to $32 million, or $1.94 per share, from $11.4 million, or 70 cents, in 2011. Revenue rose 1% to $1.1 billion.
Saia is ranked No. 22 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
