The new 70-mile-per-hour speed limit on the Ohio Turnpike, which the state’s trucking industry opposes, has taken effect, the Associated Press reported.
But the Ohio Trucking Association wrote a letter to the commission opposing the move. It cited safety concerns from the higher limit and environmental concerns from increased fuel consumption.
Larry Davis, president of the association, said at the time that the state ought to lower the tolls to encourage trucks to use the turnpike.
