Consumer personal spending jumped 1.1% in November, the Commerce Department said Friday.
The gain followed a revised 0.4% increase in October that was higher than originally reported.
Personal incomes rose 0.4% following a 0.2% gain the previous month, Commerce said.
The spending gain was well above economists’ forecasts of a 0.7% increase, Bloomberg reported.
An increase in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
