An index of leading economic indicators rose 0.2% in October, the New York-based Conference Board said Wednesday.

The rise followed a revised 0.5% gain in September. Economists had forecast a 0.1% rise, Bloomberg reported.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
