revenue and earnings declined from the prior year during the second quarter of 2025, the company reported July 29.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based motor carrier posted net income of $41.9 million, or $1.20 a diluted share, for the three months ending June 30. That compared with $52.6 million, $1.48, during the same time the previous year. Total revenue decreased by 1.1% to $1.21 billion from $1.23 billion.

“The Landstar team of independent business owners and employees performed admirably during the second quarter, highlighted by continuing strong performance by our services hauled by unsided/platform equipment,” Landstar CEO Frank Lonegro said. “I was encouraged that Landstar achieved a 3.2% sequential increase in truck revenue per load compared to the 2025 first quarter, outperforming typical seasonality.”

The results came in close to Wall Street expectations. Analysts had been looking for $1.16 per share and quarterly revenue of $1.21 billion, according to Zacks Consensus Estimate.

“In addition, I was excited to see our net BCO truck count remain essentially flat sequentially, the best performance we’ve seen since the second quarter of 2022,” Lonegro said. “Our network of Landstar BCOs, agents and employees continue to be laser-focused on safety, security and delivering great service to our customers in what continues to be a dynamic and challenging freight transportation environment.”

These operations represent 92% of all company revenue. The segment includes loads hauled by van equipment, unsided/platform equipment and less-than-truckload operations.
