House Approves Bill Limiting Number of Specialty Fuels
he House of Representatives passed legislation earlier this month that would cut the number of different types of diesel fuel and gasoline allowed in the United States to six from 17, but trucking officials said the proposal did not go far enough.
The bill, titled the Gasoline for America鈥檚 Security Act, passed the House Oct. 7 by a 212 to 210 margin and also included language that would make it easier for companies to build new refineries.
鈥淎TA strongly supports limitations on boutique fuels, however, this bill does not go far enough to create a single national diesel fuel standard,鈥 said Richard Moskowitz, regulatory counsel for American Trucking Associations.
