he Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has withdrawn its proposal to require trucks to carry a sticker certifying they were manufactured in accordance with the safety standards in effect when they were made, said the Office of Management and Budget.

A Dec. 9 notice on OMB’s Web site said the rule, which trucking and law-enforcement interests opposed, was withdrawn by the agency three months after FMCSA sent it for consideration.

A spokesman for the truck-safety agency confirmed the action, saying it was required by a provision in the 2005 federal spending legislation Congress passed in late November.
