FMCSA Considers Abolishing CDL Ban for Insulin-Treated Drivers

| Staff Reporterhe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said it will consider allowing drivers with insulin-treated diabetes to operate large trucks. Most people with diabetes have been barred from driving trucks for 35 years.
The issue, according to an agency spokesman, would be the first one tackled by FMCSA’s newly established five-member medical review board.
“This is the first thing on their plate,” said spokesman Ian Grossman.
