U.S. Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson will step down after four years with the agency, Bloomberg reported.

During her time with the agency, Jackson oversaw efforts to curb carbon-dioxide emissions, including negotiating fuel-efficiency standards with truck and automobile makers.

She plans on resigning after the President Obama’s State of the Union speech next month.

“I will leave the EPA confident the ship is sailing in the right direction,” she said in a statement.
