The national average diesel price experienced a sizable drop for the second straight week, decreasing 5.3 cents and settling at $3.582, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data March 10.
The cost of trucking’s main fuel has now fallen a combined 11.5 cents over the past two weeks after rising 3.7 cents over the previous four weeks dating to Feb. 3.
Diesel now costs 42.2 cents less a gallon on average compared with this time in 2024.

Regional Trends
Diesel’s national average price decreased in all five PADD districts, with the steepest decline being 6.4 cents a gallon in the Rocky Mountain region.
The smallest PADD district decrease was 4.3 cents along the East Coast, and the smallest overall drop was six-tenths of a cent in the New England subregion.
