Full production on all engines began Tuesday, Cummins said.Cummins will use cooled exhaust-gas recirculation technology across its entire engine line, to meet the EPA emissions standards new diesel engines that took effect Monday, at the start of the new year. The technology will reduce particulate matter by 90% and require a significant reduction in nitrogen oxides emissions from 2004 limits, Cummins said.In order to be prepared for an anticipated mid-range engine share growth and an expected increase in heavy-duty engine demand by the end of first quarter, Cummins said it intends to retain its entire workforce at all of its North American manufacturing plants.
