Consolidated Freightways Corp. (), the largest trucking company that wasn’t a member of American Trucking Associations, rejoined the national trade organization last week.

Patrick Blake, CF’s chief executive officer, said it is important for the Vancouver, Wash.-based less-than-truckload carrier to be an active participant in the national trucking group once again.

The company dropped out of ATA in 1998 as part of a cost-cutting effort by then-president W. Roger Curry.

“Our concerns [about ATA’s direction] were answered,” Blake said. “The leaning down of ATA was done right. We think the [group’s] direction is correct.”

he new year,” said Walter B. McCormick Jr., president of ATA. “We look forward to a great partnership with Patrick Blake and Consolidated Freightways as we address the many critical issues facing the trucking industry.”
