Congressmen Move to Preserve LCV Limits
David Barnes
| Senior CorrespondentRep. James McGovern (D-Mass.) and three other congressmen on April 12 introduced legislation urging the continuation of the 19-year-old laws limiting longer combination vehicles to those federal roads that allowed then before 1991.
The non-binding resolution expresses the sense of Congress that the LCV freeze should not be lifted and that current federal truck weight limits should remain unchanged. Long Combination Vehicles can operate in portions of 21 states, while federal limit on truck weight is capped at 80,000 pounds on most Interstate highways.
