Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based City Furniture reported the Semis would transport merchandise from its Tamarac distribution center to a planned facility in central Florida. The vehicles will have a range up to 500 miles on one charge.

The retailer operates 17 City Furniture stores and 12 Ashley Furniture °®¶¹“«Ć½stores. Since 2014, it has converted 80% of its 100 smaller delivery vehicles to bi-fuel trucks that run primarily on compressed natural gas.

ā€œWe anticipate the Tesla Semis will bring major savings in energy costs and maintenance,ā€ Chief Operating Officer Andrew Koenig said.

Tesla launched the Semi in November with a $150,000 base price for a tractor with a 300-mile range and a $180,000 base price for a version with a 500-mile range. Production is scheduled for 2019.Ģż
