CARB Calls for Refrigeration Units to Meet 2008 Emission Standards

California Air Resources Board regulation scheduled to take effect Dec. 10 would require diesel-fueled transport refrigeration units operating in that state to meet certain emission requirements by 2008.

鈥淣ow it is official,鈥 said Rodney Hill, a CARB air resources engineer. 鈥淚t is there and people have to comply with it.鈥

The regulation鈥檚 stated purpose was to reduce particulate matter emission from TRUs 鈥 systems powered by diesel engines to refrigerate perishable products in semi-trailers, truck vans and shipping containers.
