I.D. Systems Inc. has extended a contract with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to provide trailer tracking for the retailer’s fleet of cargo trailers.
The $14 million contract is for the VeriWise system that uses wireless sensors to provide real-time visibility and control of trailers, according to Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey-based I.D. Systems.
The contract runs through October 2017.
“Wal-Mart has been a longtime customer of I.D. Systems, for both our transportation asset-management and vehicle-management systems,” I.D. Systems CEO Kenneth Ehrman said in a statement. “We are delighted to continue our strong relationship with the world’s largest retailer.”
Wal-Mart ranks No. 4 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest private carriers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
