The Maritime Administration is working on a proposal to develop a nationwide identification card for transportation workers that all truck drivers and millions more who are employed in moving people and freight would carry.The Transportation Workers Identification Card would incorporate a biometric identifier as determined by the newly created Transportation Security Administration, under a draft of the plan.Each cardholder would be classified under four security levels based on a criminal background check by the FBI and other agencies.
