Of all the changes that followed trucking deregulation in 1980, one of the most significant has been the trend of shippers outsourcing their transportation to third-party logistics companies.
In this issue, Transport Topics launches its first ranking of the 50 largest logistics companies in North America, the leaders in a business that generated about $60.8 billion in gross revenue last year.
The new listing follows the well-established annual Transport Topics 100 of largest for-hire trucking companies in the U.S. and Canada, a special section (July 22) that this year also included the 100 largest private fleets.
