Small Fleets Look to Greater Use of Tracking Systems

everal executives with small fleets said they’re expanding their use of onboard tracking systems to help minimize fuel costs and monitor tractor and trailer assets.
System vendors said that while employing tracking systems to hold fuel costs in check isn’t the main reason fleets buy them, it’s a growing application and sales to smaller fleets are increasing.
Some carrier executives, including Wade Palmer, chief financial officer of refrigerated less-than-truckload carrier Kool Pak LLC, said relying on data from an onboard tracking system enables drivers and company officials to be more diligent about finding ways to improve fuel economy.
