Senate Panel Sets Meeting to Consider Foxx Nomination for DOT
A Senate panel may voteÌýtoday on the confirmation of Anthony Foxx as transportation secretary, a vote that would send him to the full Senate for its consideration.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee said it scheduled a meeting for Monday to consider Foxx’s nomination.
Sen. John Thune, the top Republican on the committee, said Thursday that he would support Foxx’s nomination, as well as the nomination of Penny Pritzker as commerce secretary.
President Obama announced in April that he would nominate Foxx, a 42-year-old corporate lawyer and mayor of Charlotte, N.C., to lead DOT.
