Michael Riley, the longtime president of the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut, said he plans to retire at the end of the year, the Manchester, Connecticut-based .

Riley, a former state Senate clerk, functionary in the governor’s budget office and congressional aide, has been president of the state association for 29 years.

“I was hired just after my 40th birthday, and I’ll leave just after my 69th,” Riley told the newspaper. “I’d like to do some things, and I might continue to lobby a little bit, since I’m not going back to meat-cutting.”
