Paccar to Build $400 Mln. Powertrain Plant in Southeastern U.S.

Paccar Inc., the parent company of Kenworth Truck Co. and Peterbilt Motors Co., said late Tuesday it plans to build a new $400 million powertrain manufacturing plant in the southeastern United States.Construction will begin in mid-2007 and is targeted for completion in 2009, the company said in a statement.鈥淭his significant investment in a new powertrain facility, as well as a Technology Center, will ensure that Paccar maintains its position of global technology leadership and meets customer requirements,鈥 said Mark Pigott, chairman and chief executive officer.鈥淪trong demand for . . . Peterbilt and Kenworth products has resulted in record production and market share鈥 worldwide, he said.The plant will be the company鈥檚 鈥渕ost technologically advanced,鈥 said Tom Plimpton, Paccar鈥檚 president.Paccar also the parent of European truck maker DAF Trucks N.V.
