NFI Ramps Up Battery-Electric Truck Deployment in California
Fleet Expansion Includes Freightliner, Volvo Trucks

NFI Industries will deploy 50 Class 8 battery-electric trucks (BETs) in Southern California, the for-hire truckload carrier said.
Camden, N.J.-based trucks from its Ontario, Calif., warehouse as part of the company’s port drayage services, it said.
The fleet expansion is part of the Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative project backed by the and the .
NFI took delivery of the first 15 Class 8 BETs funded through the project already, with the remainder set to be delivered by the end of June, the company said.
By the end of 2023, NFI will have 100 Class 8 BETs dedicated to port drayage, said in a statement.

NFI did not respond to requests for comment on how many BETs it currently has operating.
A total of 19 350-kW power cabinets and 38 electric vehicle chargers will be operational by the end of 2023 at the Ontario facility.
In the meantime, the company will operate its BETs from its Chino, Calif., facility, where charging infrastructure is already installed.
